St. Philomena
“Daughter of Light”
“Wonder Worker”
“A Saint for Our Times”

“Whatever you ask from her, She will obtain for you.” -Pope Gregory XVI. Credited with countless miracles and intercessions since discovery of her tomb in the most ancient catacombs of St. Priscilla in Rome in 1802. St. Philomena is prayed to by people of diverse ages, culture and social standing around the world. The young virgin who was martyred at age 13, willingly traded her earthly life for heavenly salvation and continues her work today promoting the virtues of purity and sanctity among the world’s youth and bringing the faithful closer to our Blessed Mother and Jesus Christ.

St. Maria Goretti
“Little Maria”
“Wonder Worker”
“Patroness for chastity, purity, forgiveness, and mercy”

St. Maria Goretti, at age 11, refused to be raped and thus suffered fatal assaults by Alessandro whom was sentenced to 30 years in prison. At his trial, he blamed Maria for her own death claiming that he was defending himself from a sexual attack that she herself instigated. In prison he was locked in isolation as his anger would lead to outbursts of physical violence against other inmates. One night, six years into his prison sentence, Maria appeared to Alessandro.  She appeared in a garden picking 14 white lily flowers, handing them to him one by one.  This gesture of forgiveness, this act of love, filled Alessandro with light and the Holy Spirit.  He immediately became contrite for what he did to that little girl.

Maria is known as a wonder-worker. She has intervened with the Lord to produce countless miracles. Of all the saints (over 160) whose relics Fr. Carlos Martins, Director of Treasures of the Church, ministers with, Maria is the one who by far has produced the MOST MIRACLES.

The Unknown Chinese Virgin-Martyr

A couple of months before he died, Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen was interviewed on national television. One of the questions he was asked was this: “You have inspired millions of people all over the world. Who inspired you? Was it a pope?” He responded that it was not a pope, cardinal, another bishop, or even a priest or nun, but rather an eleven year old Chinese girl.

Cardinal Kung
“The West has its Mindszenty, but the East has its Kung.”

Cardinal Kung was created a Cardinal by St. Pope John Paul II in pectore (in the heart of the Pope, without announcement to anyone in the world including Cardinal Kung) in 1979 at the age of 78, when the Cardinal was serving a life sentence in isolation in China. He led his people to bear witness to Christ in the world. For his unflinching loyalty to the Pope, the Successor of Saint Peter, he endured more than thirty years imprisonment at the hands of the Chinese Communist government. Throughout, Bishop Kung stood squarely to defend his position that he was a loyal citizen of his homeland. His life of humble witness was not as an enemy of his homeland, but as a Chinese citizen who was also a faithful Roman Catholic, in communion with the Pope.

St. Gemma Galgani

“Passion Flower”
"She bore in her flesh the wounds of Christ"

St. Gemma was an Italian mystic. She has been called the "Daughter of Passion" because of her profound imitation of the Passion of Christ.
"I live on this earth, but I seem to dwell here like a soul who has lost it’s way, because never for a moment do I cease looking towards Jesus, apart from whom I despise all things." “I greatly rejoice that time flies so quickly, because that means so much less time to spend in this world, where there is nothing to attract me. My heart goes incessantly in search of a Treasure, an immense Treasure that I do not find in creatures; a Treasure that will satisfy me and console me, and give me rest."
– St. Gemma

St. Therese

"The Little Flower"
"The greatest saint of modern times"

St. Thérèse of Lisieux, now a Doctor of the Church, summarized her spirituality in these simple but profound words, "My Little Way is all love." Her complete and unshakable trust in the love of God our Father was the foundation of her spiritual life, a childlike relationship with our Creator that raised her to the heights of sanctity in only 24 years of life. Pope Pius X called her "the greatest saint of modern times" while his successor Pope Pius XI accorded her as the Patroness of the Gardens of Vatican City on 11 May 1927, granting her the title as the "Sacred Keeper of the Gardens".

The Life and Glories of St. Joseph (Personal Revelations & Writings)

St. Joseph to Sister Mildred: "My daughter, I am not loved in the homes of men. And because I am not loved, the Divine Trinity refuses to dwell therein. Children are not taught to love Me, because those who have charge over them have no time or patience to do so. My heart suffered with the hearts of Jesus and Mary. Mine was a silent suffering, for it was my special vocation to hide and shield, as long as God willed, the Virgin Mother and her Son from the malice and hatred of men. The most painful of my sorrows was that I knew beforehand of their passions, yet would not be there to console them. Their future suffering was ever present to me and became my daily cross. I became, in union with my holy spouse, co-redemptor of the human race. Through compassion for the sufferings of Jesus and Mary I co-operated, as no other, in the salvation of the world.

Blessed Chiara

When she was 17, Chiara learned she had a very serious form of bone cancer. Treatments were painful and unsuccessful. She became paralyzed. One day someone asked her if she hoped to walk again and her answer was no. When she suffered, she felt closer to Jesus. She even refused to take pain medication that would make her too sleepy to continue to live her life. Despite her illness and being confined to bed, Chiara wrote letters and sent messages to other. She gave all her savings to a friends who was becoming a missionary in Africa. When her life was nearly at an end, she said, “I have nothing left, but I still have my heart, and with that I can always love.”

St. Teresa of the Andes
“First Chilean Saint”

St. Teresa of Jesus of Los Andes is the first Chilean to be declared a Saint. She is the first Discalced Carmelite Nun to become a Saint outside the boundaries of Europe and the fourth Saint Teresa in Carmel together with Saints Teresa of Avila, of Florence and of Lisieux. Teresa possessed an enormous capacity to love and to be loved joined with an extraordinary intelligence. God allowed her to experience his presence. With this knowledge he purified her and made her his own through what it entails to take up the cross. Knowing him, she loved him; and loving him, she bound herself totally to him.

Chiara Petrillo

Chiara Petrillo was a 28-year-old Italian mother who apparently refused life-saving cancer treatment that would have damaged or destroyed her baby. Her baby, Francesco, was born perfectly well. Chiara died…. Chiara and Enrico's letter to their son, Francesco, for his first birthday.*
“Dear Francesco, Today we celebrate your first birthday, and we were asking ourselves what we can give you that will last through the years. So we have decided to write you a letter. You have been a tremendous gift to us in our lives because you have helped us to look beyond our human limits. When the doctors wanted to scare us, your life that was so fragile gave us the strength to go forward. For what little I have learned during these years, I can tell you only that love is the center of our lives, because we are born from an act of love, we live for love and to be loved, and we die to know the true love of God.

“My Divine Mercy” song
(inspired by conversations of St. Faustina and Jesus)

St. Faustina’s apparitions of Jesus Christ inspired the Roman Catholic devotion to the Divine Mercy and earned her the title of "Apostle of Divine Mercy".

Throughout her life, Faustina reported having visions of Jesus and conversations with him, of which she wrote in her diary, later published as The Diary of Saint Maria Faustina Kowalska: Divine Mercy in My Soul. Jesus’ Divine Mercy is the Second Greatest Story Ever Told!
